Before we get back to the show

I thought I would share what I am doing right now. Do you like this mess? My scrap tote (see it there, the clear one) got too full to close so I decided that I would take the scraps that are outside my "normal" style and put them in another spot. In this case the white tote that of course had to be emptied of its contents first. So I got started. One thing I discovered is that I have been saving way too many scraps that are totally too small to be usable. So from now on no strips less than 1" and no scraps smaller than 1 1/2" square. That's probably still too small but I have to start letting go somewhere. I am just way too much of a P A C K R A T! Now on to the show. I love the fabrics and colours in this quilt so much that I have several close up blocks as well as the quilt. Apparently it was a kit at a shop a few towns away from me. One of these days I will take pics of the bathroom off my quilting room. It is my only cottage-y room and is mainly pink and green, like this quilt.

This block is pretty even though it has friendship stars in it. I love stars but of the Ohio variety, not the friendship variety. Weird, isn't it?

I love the fabric combination in this one. I love the plaid and the check.

Here's a little bigger view so you can see the cornerstones -- stars. I have never done that. I really like it. Of course they have those tight angles but on the end of sashing it would be pretty easy to do I think.

Here is the whole quilt.

I love the colours in this one. And the border print. Very french country, don't you think? Once upon a time my style was french country.

I have the book with this pattern. I really like it and maybe someday I will make it.

Here is the whole thing. Another interesting border fabric.

Look at this colour wheel. Cool, yes? I love the grey scale blocks on the top and the black and white on the bottom, Oh, and the wheel itself, too. Just really like it a lot.

Interesting pictorial and I love the quilts on the line above. And the border on this one, too. Kind of like a frame.

This is the end of a happy table runner.

See, happy colours and happy fabrics.

Curvy log cabins. In rainbow colours. Love the purple and green together. Once a long long time ago I read an article that said you should never go on a job interview wearing green or purple if you wanted to get the job. I can't remember why but I have always remembered that. Seems so unfair to pick on too perfectly good colours. I have hired people who wore purple or green. But maybe I am the exception that proves the rule!

Here is the whole quilt. Don't you love how the colours streak through it?

There were a lot of versions of this quilt and you will get to see a bunch more on another day. But I love this one both colours and I love the curvy border treatment. And the stripe next to the graphic dotty fabric is just a phenomenal combo I think.

A local quilter has written a book on curved piecing and teaches classes. When I first heard about it I didn't think I was interested but seeming some of these quilts, and I think this one is hers, I am reconsidering.

The other corner. Since I am short I could only take pics of the bottom corners so you just get two.

Here is the whole thing. Don't you love the curvy framing around each block? And the colours?

That's all for today. I will be back as soon as I can with more. And then there will be Kuna. Oh how I love quilt show season!

  2. That is so pretty. When people ask me about my quilting I tell them I cut big pieces of fabric into smaller pieces of fabric and then I sew it all all back together to make another big piece of fabric.
